ABOVE: A small marker

lets hikers know they
are at the summit.

LEFT:  The summit is
covered with lava rock
from the volcanic action
of prehistoric times.
This is what gives the
"Peak" such a unique
appearance.
Gazing up from the trail, the summit buliding
becomes visable.  About 1/2 way to the top!
Check out the switchbacks on the trail leading up the
back side of the peak.  The scenery makes the climb
worth it!
